Don’t publish until your novel has been proofread to the highest level of excellence. Be aware that as helpful as some online grammar-check tools may be, they are far from sufficient substitutes for an intelligent human proofreader. In fact, some online tools may easily end up incorporating more errors. It’s also extremely difficult to thoroughly proofread your own writing; your eyes will often see what you think you wrote, not what is actually there (or not there).

With years of proofreading experience, and as a full member of ACES (American Copy Editors Society), I know how to focus on minute details and correct countless mistakes. I also have a Poynter ACES Certificate in Editing and am a graduate of the College of Media and Publishing. Proofreading is not content editing, so if your novel still needs large changes and rewriting, it is not yet ready for proofreading. Proofreading is the final step before publishing. Some authors do not require much editing, and in those cases, a proofreader may be exactly what they need.

I provide timely proofreading at an affordable price.
I prefer working in Microsoft Word with Track Changes turned on. I also accept Google Docs, Microsoft Office documents, and PDFs. After proofreading, I’ll return the document file to you with the changes clearly marked. It’s then up to you to choose whether to incorporate each change or not.
Hard copies such as printed manuscripts or bound proof copies are also accepted. You’ll simply need to email me for my mailing address. After proofreading, I’ll return your hard copies to you with changes marked in red.

I do not accept:
Steamy Romance, Erotica, LGBTQ+, Political, Horror, or novels with morally offensive content or scenes of “on-screen” sex, gratuitous violence, abuse, and excessive filthy language. If you’re unsure whether or not I’ll proofread your novel, please submit a sample and I’ll get back to you shortly. After considering a sample, I maintain the right to decline a proofreading project if I feel it is not the right fit for me.
